                             MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT                             .

               Oldmans Township Board of Education

September 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of the Oldmans Township Board of Education, welcome to the 2014-2015 school year.  The Board would like to encourage you to attend its monthly meetings, which take place on the second Tuesday of the month at the Oldmans Township Municipal Building at 7:30 p.m.  Your presence is welcome and encouraged.

Additionally, the Board would like to make you aware of recent improvements and additions to the school that took place over the summer vacation.  The most immediately identifiable improvement upon arrival to the school is the addition of new parking in front of the soccer field along Freed Road.  This parking area will assist in accommodating larger crowds for school functions and in the facilitation of drop off/pick-up, alleviating the buildup of vehicles on Freed Road.  The construction process also involved drainage improvements to existing parking areas.

Of paramount importance was the re-design and refurbishment of the front entryway/office to make a more secure entry to the school.  The library has also been transformed into a multimedia resource center.  In the gym, energy efficient stage lighting has been added, which you can experience while attending one of the wonderful student performances put together each year by Mr. Todd Lenhart.

Finally, the Board would like to note the continued growth of our school and corresponding addition of a new teaching position, with Mrs. Helene Horchuck joining the staff as a 3rd grade teacher.

As made public at the May board meeting and hearing on the 2014-15 school budget, all of these improvements have been undertaken without any increase in the school tax levy.  Indeed, over the course of the last five years, the school tax levy has decreased by 12 cents.

Once again, the Board welcomes you to the new school year and looks forward to your input and participation throughout the school year.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Kathy Moore
